Events in London

As summer bids adieu and autumn is setting in, London is preparing itself for another season of festivities and fun. From live shows to night markets, there is a whole range of activities to savour this September. Let us find out what the most awaited activities of this month are.

The Great River Race

The magnificent Thames will be host to a traditional boat race this September. The Great River Race attracts thousands of racers of different levels to compete on the same platform. The only prerequisite to participating in this race would be to own a coxed boat operated by a minimum of four paddles or oars. Starting point for the competition would be from the Millwall Dock Slipway in London Docklands and will stretch across for 21 miles, and racers will be competing for 35 different trophies.

Open House London 2015

This event will be taking place on 19th and 20th of September and will offer the opportunity to explore hundreds of places renowned for their unique design and architecture. Art and architecture have always been important elements of the British culture and this open house is the best time to explore the capital in detail. Highlights of the event include the New Covent Garden Flower Market, House of Benjamin Franklin, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and Grow Elephant.

Pearly Kings and Queens Harvest Festival 2015

This parade is scheduled to ade will be preceded by amusing entertainment shows at Guildhall. The Pearly Kings and Queens take place on the 27th of this month starting from Guildhall up to Saint Mary-le-Bow Church. This part of London will be adorning black suits fitted with pearls and will be seen parading down the road. Marching along with them would be a host of colourful characters and donkeys. This is a charity event that is conducted to raise funds for the Whitechapel Mission.

The London Flower Show

This three day festival will take place at Victoria Park in South Hackney. The event brings immense delight to nature lovers and is a favourite among children. Interesting part about the event is that there are competitions for horticulturists and monetary awards may go up to £10,000. Apart from this, there will be garden installations, live music and food stalls to enjoy. It is a three day event that starts on 11th of this month.

London Design Festival

London always celebrates art in every possible way. This September witness the best exhibitions and events of design and art across various venues in London. The events focus on showcasing innovation through design through museums as well as tiny studios. Important places to visit during this festival are Victoria and Albert Museum and Somerset House.
