Getting to Heathrow Early in the Morning

Heathrow is one of the most prominent international airports connecting London with destinations across the world. Situated in the London borough of Hillingdon, it is almost equivalent of a small city. All of its five terminals are with ample choices in food, accommodation, and entertainment.

Connectivity to Heathrow airport

A large portion of the westward journey from Central London to Heathrow can be accomplished by the means of M4 motorway. Well established public transit connectivity exists between the terminals and Central London. Though railway stations exist on all terminals, a single station does not serve to connect all the locations in the city.

Public Transport system to Heathrow

Central London can be easily reached from all the Heathrow terminals, with majority of passengers opting for public transit services. Available options include buses, trains and the London Underground.

Heathrow Express

Heathrow Express has direct services to Paddington and its nearby areas. The services commence every fifteen minutes from terminals 3 and 5. This public transit service however cannot be availed for transfers to and from terminals 2 and 4.

Heathrow Connect

Operating on the same route as the Heathrow Express, Heathrow Connect is a bit slower and less frequent with direct connections to terminals 3 and 4. Trains depart every 3 minutes and also serve local stations that lie enroute in West London. Nevertheless, the service cannot be availed by passengers bound to and from terminals 2 and 5.

London Underground

With direct connections to Central London, Piccadilly line of the London Underground also has halts at stations close to majority of prominent landmarks as well as shopping and entertainment areas.

Coach/Bus

National Express coaches ply regularly between Heathrow Central Bus Station to London Victoria Coach Station. N9 night bus service operates services to and from Aldwych in Central London via Hammersmith. The services can be availed for transfers to and from Terminal 5.

Central London does not have local bus connections during the day as majority of the areas are served by the London Underground. Areas of West London have well established bus links operating during the day.

Taxi services to and from Heathrow

Though operating frequently, the Heathrow Express and Heathrow Connect do not have services to and from all the terminals. This becomes a challenge for journeys involving additional baggage. Coaches, buses and night buses are with associated woes like insufficient frequency and varying fares. Intended mostly for short journeys, the London Underground is not always preferred as the trains are not comfortable.

Private hire taxis to Heathrow are preferred due to fixed fares and availability even during unsocial hours. For an early morning flight which requires two hours of prior check in, private taxis assure a timely and comfortable door step pickup. Fares are fixed and booking is by means of telephone and easy online portal. They include vehicles that are spacious enough to accommodate varying passenger numbers and luggage. For transfers to and from the airport, services also include free flight monitoring and subsequent rescheduling of the journey. Courteous drivers at service meet passengers inside the terminals, as well as assist in luggage handling for a comfortable transfer.
