Glasgow International Airport Guide

Glasgow International Airport is in Scotland and is around 7 miles away from Glasgow City Centre. It is the second busiest airport in Scotland and the eighth busiest in the United Kingdom. This airport has two runways and two terminals. One main runway is 2,658m long and operates flights to more than one hundred destinations. Glasgow Terminal 2 was opened in 2004 and has one of the world’s most sophisticated baggage screening systems, four new aircraft parking stands and is capable of handling over 1.5 million passengers a year.

This airport has baggage enquiries, lounges, baby changing areas, restaurants, bars, shops, a prayer room, left luggage, lost luggage, family facilities, business facilities, cash machines, dry cleaning, internet access, information points and lots more facilities. It has good public transportation including coaches, trains, Underground and taxis to and from the airport.

Skylounges offer a separate lounge for business purpose and a separate lounge for family. Holiday lounge is ideal for family, friends, couples and large groups. This lounge has toys, play stations, DVDs, digital TVs and lots more. Business lounge has the latest facilities, a good atmosphere and lots more. There are soft play areas for young children near gates 27A and 27B. Puzzle tables and Lego are available in many areas in the terminal.

Complimentary alcohol, soft drinks, tea or coffee, free snacks, complimentary newspapers, magazines, comfortable chairs and lots more are available in the lounges. You can watch the flights on runways from Frankie and Benny’s, Caledonia, Beardmore bar and restaurant, J&R Tennent Pier Bar and many more in this airport.

The airport prayer room is open continuously and is located on the first floor of the departure area. It provides a quiet and peaceful atmosphere for the passengers of all faiths and denominations. A good range of restaurants, bars, pubs and other food outlets are available both before security and after security.
