Denver international Airport is located in Denver, Colorado and it is the country’s largest airport. The airport is also one of the busiest airports in the world. It is located 25 miles to the north east of the city of Denver and has the reputation of being one of the best-maintained airports in America. The airport majorly serves the destinations in Latin America, North America and Europe. It is also the main hub for the Frontier Airlines and other airlines that use the airport are Southwest Airlines, United Airlines and the Great Lakes Airlines.
Denver International Airport opened to public in the early 90`s and initially encountered a number of inefficiency issues in its operations. Today however the airport is applauded for it first class maintenance that is taken care by City & County of Denver Department of Aviation. Key features of the airport include an Automated Baggage System for better operation at a lower cost, Solar Energy System that has infact contributed to the total distributed generation photovoltaic energy production of Denver, 100 percent free wireless connectivity throughout the airport and the airport’s collection of artworks that adorns the airport in different parts.
The airport currently has one completed terminal called the Jeppesen Terminal and another terminal which will be called the South Terminal is expected to be completed by mid 2016. The Jeppensen Terminal is divided into the east and the west terminals and opens out into three main concourses called the Concourse A, B and C. Two more concourses are expected to be planned in the near future.
To travel from the airport to the city, passengers can choose one of the bus services offered by the Regional Transportation District. Skyride is the most popular bus service that takes passengers from the airport to Denver, Aurora, Westminster and Commerce City. Taxis are available outside the main terminal building and they serve all eight counties that make up the state of Colorado. If you choose to stay in a hotel near the airport, most hotels offer free shuttle services.
Denver International Airport has over 50 shops that offer souvenirs, fashion accessories, watches, unique gifts, chocolates and clothing. Popular stores of the airport are Amber Room, BluWire, Connections and Way Out. Eating is again a pleasure at this airport, as there is a number of food stalls in that offer great menus at nominal rates. Small cafes brewing fresh coffee and serving freshly baked croissants and baguettes at the airport are a big relief from the exhaustion of travel.
